Summer Camp

I am going to introduce about Summer Camp. Only students who are first grader of department of British and America studies can take part in this camp. This Summer Camp’s purpose is that we learn English as we enjoy playing games. This is a camp of four days and five nights. In this year, summer camp was held twice. Camp 1 held from August 26th to 29th and Camp 2 held from August 31st to September 3rd. Four foreigner’s teachers go this camp with students, so I think that you can enjoy talking with them. Next I will introduce about what you need to bring. Camp cost is 15,950 yen but please bring extra money. You have to bring those things. For example, pajamas, toothbrush, bath towel, underwear, camera and so on. Girls shouldn’t wear high heels. Because you take exercise so you have to wear shoes suitable for exercise. If you want to learn real-life English, this camp is a golden opportunity.

Customs

I will introduce about customs peculiar to Japan. Japan has a lot of customs.
For example, when you get back home from outside and enter in your house, you have to take off your shoes in the entrance hall. When we eat before a meal, we say ‘Itadakimasu’ and when we finish eating a meal, we say ‘Gochisousamadesita’ with gratitude.

We eat with chopsticks. The correct way of using chopsticks and some rules of chopsticks are decided. For example, you shouldn’t lick food that is attached to chopsticks or stick foods with chopsticks or point at people with chopsticks during a meal or have other tableware with chopsticks and so on. It is difficult for foreigners to use chopsticks properly, but if you remember the usage of chopsticks, eating meal will surely become happy in Japan.
I saw that Japan have a lot of unique customs. I wanted to keep the customs peculiar to Japan. If you go to in Japan, please try that!

Thnaksgiving Days

I will introduce about meal that people eat on Thanksgiving Day.
It is different for home to home to take a traditional Thanksgiving meal. There are a lot of homes where the same menu is almost used for dinner at Christmas.
Traditional main dish is turkey. Stuffing is stuffed bread into turkey and roasts it whole. And garnish a turkey with gravy and Cranberry sauce. Gravy is a sauce made from these juices together with stock and other ingredients.
People also eat mashed potato with gravy, sweet potato dishes and a bean casserole for side dishes. For dessert, people eat apple pie or pumpkin pie.
I saw that Thanksgiving Day is a traditional festival. Let’s go to Thanksgiving Day.

Tongariro National Park

I will introduce the history of Tongariro National Park.In 1894, it was designated as the first national park in New Zealand. In 1990, it was inscribed as a natural heritage site and in a1993 also as a cultural heritage site.
The park designated by suggestion of the Maoris. Do you know the Maoris? They are the original inhabitants of New Zealand. This national park is the holy place for the Maoris, so it has strong ties with the culture of the Maoris, which was rated high.
There are three active volcanos in the park-Mt.Ruapehu, Mt.Ngauruhoe and Mt.Tongariro. This mountain area is one of the Maoris' objective places of worship. Near these mountains, there are a lot of hiking course and they are very popular now.

Tokyo Disney Sea

Let me talk about a souvenir stores of Disney Sea. There are 35 shops. We can buy a lot of souvenirs which we can buy only in Tokyo Disney Sea. Especially, I’m going to introduce two souvenir stores which I recommend.
First, 「Sleepy Whale Shop」. There is theme port of Mermaid Lagoon. The shop is shaped like “whale”. We can buy goods of Ariel who is mermaid.
Second, 「Aunt・Peguzu・ VillageStore」in theme port of American Waterfront . This shop is an atmosphere of at home. This shop is sold Daffy’s character goods.
Lastly, I want everyone to eat popcorn when you will go to Disney Sea. There are eight popcorn shops and, there are seven tastes. (Salt, Strawberry, Caramel, Black pepper, Coconut, Cappuccino and chocolate.) A standard taste of Disney Sea is “Cappuccino”. I have never tried to eat Cappuccino popcorn. So, I’d like to eat it. I recommend you to try to eat if you’ll go there.
Let’s go to Disney Sea.

Director: Hiroshi Shinagawa(He is comedian!!)

The type of the movie: A quarrel＆Love＆Friend 《Youthful entertainment》

About the movie: The director voluntarily made the novel and the comic of a large best-seller into a film.

Plot: Hiroshi of a junior high school student longed badly. So he transferred to the public junior high school where delinquents gather. He was social, so he entered a bad group immediately. He's deepening friendship during every day only of naughtiness. But an unexpected event happens on some days…

Recommend: This movie is very interesting and it moved me. It is actually felt that the friends are wonderful . And casts are very cool.
I really recommend that you see it!!!

2.NANA

Cast: Mika Nakashima

Director: Kentaro Otani

The type of the movie: Friend＆Love story

About the movie: This movie was made from the cartoon that Ai Yazawa was serializing. It is very popular among the young people.

Plot: The hero is a girl of the same age, same name. Their names are “NANA”. Nana Osaki wanted to become a singer and went to Tokyo. Nana Komatsu ran after the lover and went to Tokyo. Two person’s character and their environments were opposites. Then they met in dramatic form and lived together in Tokyo. Love and the friendship, dream and reality of 20-year-old girl are drawn.

Recommend: I read the comic then I came to like it. It is a movie to be impressed by hot friendship of two people. They made an effort toward the dream. It made me impressed.

3. KOIZORA

Made in 2007(in Japan)

Runtime: 129 minutes

Cast: Yui Aragaki・Haruma Miura

Director: Natsuki Imai

The type of the movie: Love story

About the movie: A popular cellular phone novel was made into a film. It is written based on author's real experience.

Plot: Mika(Yui) who is a very usual high school student associated with Hiro(Haruma). Then she got pregnant. However, the tragedy occurs. It is very sad but their bonds have strengthened. One day, Suddenly , he bade farewell to her. Because , he had too sad secret.

Recommend: I read this novel and I wanted to watch the movie.
This made me impressed very much. They who got over a lot of events were very impressive. I think that single-minded feelings of Hiro for Mika are wonderful. It is likely to want to fall in love when we watch this movie.
I really recommend that you see it!!!
